Latvian Association in action!
Today, via the internet one can reach practically everyone in the whole world. Although the Latvian Association does not have to reach our members that far, our new website does allow others to read and see what has and is happening here, and what can we expect in the future.

We sincerely wish to thank all those who supported our November fundraising event to help with the cost of the special assessment. This fundraising effort generated $3200.
In 2005, the Kalamazoo Latvian Association received $2703 in donations and memorial contributions. WE THANK ALL OF OUR SUPPORTERS!

Kalamazoo Latvian Association invites all our community members to join the organization, by filling out the MEMBERSHIP application, and thus becoming an active supporter of the work done by our community.
EVENTS COMMITTEE NEWS
On October 15th over 100 attendees enjoyed the second Oktoberfest organized by KLA. The beautifully decorated beer-garden was the backdrop for the big Latvian sauerkraut cook-off. Among the 8 entries were also two prepared by male cooks, although in the end the female dominance of experienced cooks was obvious Aija Ķeņ?is took first place, with Ilze Šimane and Mārīte Grīnberga in second and third place. Zigis Tomsons, who arrived as Cowboy with horse won the costume contest, but Andris Kārkliņš took home the honor of strongest man. We would like to thank all those, who donated items to the lottery, but especially the following businesses: Kalamazoo 10 Theatre, Mac Kenzies Bakery, Bacchus Wine and Spirits and the Millenium Restaurant Group. Congratulations to the lucky winners! Thank you also to all those who helped with their time and advice to make this a successful evening!
Rummage Sale
A big thank you to all the helpers and an equally big thank you for all the donations to the last rummage sale. Our income again exceeded our wildest hopeswe made just over $4,860.00 thanks to you all!
